BAGSTOBRAGABOUT SWAP!

WHOOHOOO!  HOORAY!  My swap partner Terri likes it!  Well if you are a purple lover, how could you help but like it?  LOL!   Here is an original design front and back made for the Bagstobragabout yahoo group Fall Swap...

A look inside..... all purple...

Took stips of blues and purples and sewed them into a strata for the back section.  If you look closely, it has been quilted with a design to mimi the wonderful floral design in the batik fabric.  Sitting on top of the bag is a cute little wallet change purse.

VOILA!  The front design!  Another finished gift!

TERRY'S QUILT

Tragedy strikes in the twinkling of an eye and I believe there is enough tragedy to go around for us all.  Just last month I read a story of a doll artist who has fallen on hard times due to medical bills, not covered by insurance. (I submitted the winning bid on a doll to help raise funds to help the artist)  It seems insurance companies cover healthy individuals only!  But, I digress; recently a tragic work injury that caused serious bodiy injury ripped apart the daily routine of a young family and of course, I want to do my part by donating a quilt block.   Laurie, at a yankeequilter.blogspot.com  is collecting the donated blocks, and has all the information on her blog regarding the block collection and a giveaway!

October is BREAST CANCER Month!

These little cuties are here to remind you to get that breast exam....remember those who have lost their fight and support those who continue to fight! ... Awtemnymf had a giveaway this month where she asked us to display our favorite pink items.  At the time, I didn't have anything pink to post.  At last I was able to get a couple dolls together and I decided to post them without the pink hair (cool pink yarn) that was purchased to finish off the all pink outfits!  I think it is entirely appropiate!

BLOGGER'S QUILT FESTIVAL

Once again, I'm participating in the Party City Girl Quilt Festival!   Thank you Amy for giving voice to our quilts... Again this is such a wonderful idea!

April 20, 2004 started like any other ordinary work day, but it proved to be the beginning of an extremely painful struggle. A struggle that continues to this day. That day, a life-altering work injury occurred which causes constant pain in two ways: 1- my employer refused (continues to refuse) to acknowledge and/or accept responsibility for said injury (despite several decisions on three different levels in my favor) and 2 - the actual  pain of nerve damage. But, that is not what this entry is really about. This is a story about PASSION! A story of passion overcoming pain. A story of how many of us persevere through whatever life throws at us and still we sit/stand/lie propped against pillows if we need to be so that we can sew, knit, stitch or partake of whatever our crafting passion! You! You know what I'm talking about!

Prior to my injury, I was working on a quilt for the 2004 Robert Kaufman Quilt Quest Challenge... A month after the injury, I decided to try and finish up my quilt and submit it. I did finish and on the last day mailed it off just making the deadline. Of course I did not win or place in the contest, but for me, finishing that quilt was a WIN!  Imagine how happy I was when Robert Kaufman Company notified me that it had been chosen to travel! That was pure joy and my family thought I had actually won a ribbon! There were tears of joy then and now as I recall that day. WOW!

Not Just Pinwheels  is my design made with the EQ5 system.  It was a first for me and boy was that an adventure in itself.  Unfortunately, the in-progress pictures are of such a poor quality, that I removed them from the post. So without further ado...

MORE September news

We've been very busy traveling and visiting prospective colleges for the high school students here and one of the schools of note is Princeton. What a beautiful campus! We all enjoyed our visit there. Here are just a couple pictures...

I think any of our scholars would be happy on this campus! There is anything and everything they need for both the undergrad and graduate student. (we have both) We have fallen in love with this school and I hope I will be spending the next few years on this campus!
