SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

The snow storm started Wednesday morning and ended sometime during the wee hours of Thursday morning left us with about 15 inches of new snow!!!!   This reminded me of the way it used to be about 20 years ago when we had our first snows in October and it didn't stop snowing until March...  Lol, folks were talking about this being "snowmedgedon"   sooooo funny.  We have become complacent ... it IS winter and snow is to be expected.  My ds is happy - no school today.

Hubby, along with son and daughter went out to clear the snow off the cars and shovel out some of the snow around the cars.  Of course I had to go out to supervise...hehhehheh.... I took some pictures of them working and playing.  Dd and Dh had a snow bucket fight!  lol....we had fun and now need naps!

Snowing....

Snowing...., originally uploaded by creativedawn.
The snow began twelve hours earlier than first forecast! Lovely stuff to drive in!

Here's another pic and as you can see, an accumulation of snow was removed  -  about 30 minutes before I took this pic...  It's the nice big fluffy flakes of snow!

Snow day!

CELEBRATE THE LIFE, THE DREAM...

“I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I

want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the

promised land. So I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything.

I'm not fearing any man.”

Loss of lives and property have devastated two continents in the past week.  As a member of C-R-A-F-T, a yahoo group whose owner, Khristina,  is Australian and whose membership is greatly made up  of ladies living in Australia and New Zealand,  I've had access to various videos and stories of peoples affected by the floods there.  Most of these stories have been provided by members of our group. I feel so helpless here in the US; however, there is a way that I and anyone reading this can help our sisters and brothers in Australia.  There are many groups and bloggers setting up information and other modes of raising money, quilts, collections for clothing and gathering volunteers for the clean up.

Retromummy is one such bloggers.  I will set up a button on the side bar also!

Wait!  I'm not finished yet.  Another group of  ladies is also hosting relief efforts here....Among the Gum Trees

....and here.  This lovely blogger has posted various auction sites and groups here at Make It Perfect

A favorite blogger, Jenny is hosting an auction on her blog of two of her own hand stitched quilts.  They are so beautiful!   Go take a look!

ICE!

ICE!, originally uploaded by creativedawn.

This is outside our door! It is so appropriate that such opposites exist in the world. Thank you, my friends who responded to my cry for help. You all have busy lives;; however, you managed to leave words of encouragement and strength. Thank you very much! I know most of us prefer to read about the sunny aspect of life.

Also in this post I would ask that anyone reading this moment to please say prayers for our brothers and sisters in flood ravaged Queensland, NSW, and Brazil. Many lives have been lost. Pray for people all over our Earth who are without loved ones; are sick and healing, and for the dying.
Amen....

Gum Tree Designers

In 2010, I happened to hop onto the blog of a group of fantastic designers.  Several Australian ladies were grouped together on this one blog!  Each  was and IS a brilliant designer in her own right and had lovely stitcheries, quilts, and other designer items that each had created.  This year, these ladies are starting out with what looks to be a grand GIVEAWAY!  You should hop on over and sign up for the chance to win a lovely package of designs!
