UPDATE...

While my original New Year's Eve Mystery quilt languishes on  the design wall, a new star was born...heeheehee.


I learned that a quilt that I owed for a charity auction was due...so in 4 days...yep 4 days, these hands cut, sewed, and quilted this little gem.  

NYE MSYTERY QUILT

It's been a long week ... Along with other quilters in FabricaholicsAnonymous,  I started making these blocks on New Year's Eve and have finally finished (today) the 35 blocks.  Now, I'll need to figure out how to make it bigger without making another row of blocks; by adding an inner border and then a 10 1/2 outside border...that may make it large enough.   The plan is to free motion the quilt on my berNINA!   I will be posting my progress as I finish each stage....maybe I should put these blocks together in sections and quilt them in sections - making it easier for these hands.

This picture shows all but the last six blocks; but shows the blocks with accurate coloration...  I used an old lavender fabric as the background and 3 Kaffe Fassett fabrics - red print, blue print, and bright chartreuse with bits of yellow and orange.  Had I known that they would show as twinkling jewels, I might have chosen different fabrics.  Now isn't the way of the "mystery quilt" ?  Of course, I can make another one later on...lol.

What I'm doing...

Hello there and Happy New Year to all of you.  Thanks for reading my blogs; some of you have been readers and followers for a couple years now.  I've never had a giveaway...want to do that just to give you loyal readers a special token of my appreciation.  Also, I am working on a new blog which will feature all of my crafting and quilting projects in one place.  By the end of this month, I hope to have a GIVEAWAY and will switch to the new blog.  These blogs will be phased out over this year.  Hopefully those who currently follow me, will be interested in the new blog as well.  Again thank you.  More news will follow regarding the GIVEAWAY at this month's end...lol.

What am I up to right now?  Well, I am working on a NYE mystery quilt that has a zillion pieces for a twin sized quilt, which I know will have to be made bigger.  What a chore to cut up strips into hundreds of squares.  I need a GO CUTTER!  too poor to get one of those, so I persevere.  At least I have an idea of the look of the block...just last night.  I have all the components almost finished; working on the center block of the design.  ( more about the MYSTERY QUILT AUTHOR LATER) ...

Temecula Quilts  continues a "12 Days of Christmas" mystery blocks; ends January 6.  If you've not started, it is a very easy group of blocks...so jump in!
